As South Louisiana continues to recoup from the devastating floods, Southern University and the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino and Hotel are partnering to support the ongoing relief efforts and celebrate the Jaguars’ Sept. 17 home-opener against Alabama State.

SU and the Belle of Baton Rouge will host SU Fan Fest: Jaguar Tough, Louisiana Strong, on Monday night on Sept. 12 at the Belle Atrium located in downtown Baton Rouge. Fans are also encouraged to participate in a donation drive to help replenish the Baton Rouge Food Bank.

The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank is currently in the process of cleaning, disinfecting, and refurbishing their facility at the Fraenkel Center and are operating in a temporary warehouse. Fan are asked to donate non-perishable items, including can goods, pasta, and water.

The Gold-N-Bluez will welcome fans to SU Fan Fest when the doors open at 5:30 p.m. Free parking will be available at the Belle parking garage.

After members of the Jaguar football team autograph posters, Southern head football coach Dawson Odums will address attendees at the free event, which will include live performances by the SU Human Jukebox, the Dancing Dolls and SU varsity cheerleaders.

Coaches and players from Southern’s cross country, soccer and volleyball programs will also be available to autograph posters and take pictures to promote their respective seasons during Fan Fest.
